Verve Coffee Roasters approached us looking to redesign their Shopify Plus website to create an accessible coffee-buying experience online that would allow them to grow loyal customers and convert new ones.
Verve Coffee Roasters was founded with an unparalleled focus on craft, quality, and relationships, along with dedication to making a positive impact in coffee communities from Farm-level to Street-level. Today, Verve has over a dozen brick-and-mortar cafés in the U.S. and Japan, and also offers products at retail partners nationwide.
Verve wanted to mirror the infectious spirit, boundless energy, and enthusiasm that consumers feel when entering their physical cafés for this new eCommerce site. Our job was to bring forth the same immersive experience – a combination of a roastery, test kitchen, beverage innovation center, training lab and event space – all online.
The truth is, coffee is more competitive now than ever before. With endless options for consumers, the only way to break through and connect with your audience is with your brand. We began this engagement by conducting stakeholder interviews and tapping into our network of coffee-industry experts in order to form a brand and content strategy across this experience.
Our Brand Strategists, Brand Designers, and UX/UI Designers worked together to bridge the gap between the cafe and digital. Through a refreshed design system we were able to deliver a sleek, fun look and feel, featuring earthy colors and playful iconography, while creating value for consumers to engage with Verve through guided selling and other digital tools.
Verve discovered their customers were canceling subscriptions because they found themselves over-estimating and ordering too much coffee at enrollment. To address this, we developed the first-of-its-kind “Coffee Consumptionator” to help users accurately calculate how much coffee they would need.
The resulting new website provides users with a digital version of a physical Verve Café through a visually on-brand and interactive online shopping experience. Through the project, we helped Verve reinvent their coffee subscription model in order to address pain points and build a foundation for growth, while at the same time, refining their visual look and feel, site experience, and path to purchase. Now, their eCommerce website is set up to help customers learn about new coffee and feel confident in their purchase.
